MR. STEWART'S DILEMMA
COMMENT OF "THE TIMES"
LONDON, February 13. In a leading article on New Zealand currency, "The Times" expresses the opinion that the difficulty of the Hon. W. Downie Stewart's position was that he could suggest 'no alternative. The Government's endeavour had been to secure by equitable sacrifices all round a reduction of costs in order to meet the fall in prices. Mr. Stewart's hope of higher prices unfortunately was disappointed. If the Government's decision helps the New Zealand farmers to'mako both ends meet British traders ana manufacturers may also ! hope to rean l some share of the benefits
