GRATIFIED INTEREST

OPINION IN WASHINGTON

INFORMATION WANTED

United Press Association—By Electric Telecraph—Copyright. (Eeceived February 14, 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 13. Mr. MaeDonald's statement in the House of Commons that the British will seek at the debt discussions here for a harmonious approach to the problems before the World Economic Conference, was received with gratified interest by the officials who are preparing for the discussions. The opinion prevailed, however, that Mr. Mac Donald's failure to make any statement on the concessions Britain may be willmgto offer the United States for debt revision left the situation enshrouded in the same haze which has surroundad it since the arrangements for the Washington meeting were first announced. Intimations that Mr. Mac Donald may head the British delegation have created a favourable reaction among officials, as he is regarded as a man of such woria-wide vision and driving power that the President can talk to him with a good prospect for* definite achievements, despite Mr. MaeDonald's statement that the final decisions cannot be reached in Washington.
