(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CARTERTON. This Day. The Martinborough District High School commenced the new school year with a roll number of 236 in the primary department and 51 in the secondary department. ; The Carterton Tennis Club scored a comI fortable win over Mangapakeha in a match ! played at Carterton on Saturday, -winning by 21 sets and 241 games to 3 sets and 156 games. At a meeting of the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, it was reported that 53 flying hours had been put in during the month, and for the financial year to date there had been an increase of 48 flying hours oVer the corresponding period of last yean Thirteen trainees wero engaged in dual instruction at the Hood Aerodrome during the month. The outlet of the Wairarapa Lake closed during the recent heavy weather, and an' effort will be made to reopen it as soon as conditions are favourable. At a meeting of the Mauriceville County Council on Saturday, the Commissioner of Crown Lands asked whether the council would agree to certain reserve lands now vested in the council being made available for the small farm schenie, and the clerk was directed to reply in the affirmative on certain conditions. It was reported that satisfactory progress was being made with the new culvert on Dryer's Hock Road, which was being constructed in accordance with plans and specifications approved by the District Engineer and in accord with proposals definitely arranged by the chairman with the District Engineer.
