PLUNKET SOCIETY

GARDEN PARTY AND DANCE

At the monthly meeting of the Pluii-; ket Society, held on Friday last, the balance-sheet for the garden party which was held before Christmas at the old Ministerial Residence, Tinakori road, and the children's dance held the night before, was presented to the committee by the secretary. The takings were as follows:—Garden party receipts: Gate money, £12 18s 3d; afternoon tea, £5 10s; produce stall, £23 Ss 7d; cake stall, £9 18s 8d; amusements, £3 4's 2d; donations, £10 -7s 6d; total, £65 7s 2d; expenditure', £4 19s 7d; balance, £60 7s 7d. Children's dance receipts, £15 8s 9d; expenses, £7 7s 9d; balance, £8 Is. The committee recorded its thanks to the branches at Eeatherston, Martinbbrough, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Pahiatua, and Masterton for produce and cakes, and also to the Coastal Towns Sub-branch, which not only gave, collected, and brought in produce, but also personally helped at the stall with their president, Mrs. Gray, and the hon. secretary, Mrs. Hassell. The Central Committee also thanks the sub-committees for their co-operation in the organisation of the effort, for making themselves responsible for the cake stall, and for their generous help in every direction. The committee thanks the Eastbourne, Eelburn, and Karori Committees for helping organise the dance, and many friends of the society who gave assistance.
