• ■ ADELAIDE, This Day. *, The world's 220 yds women's backstroke record was broken, by Miss, Seat nic Mealing. Swimming the backstroke in the Australian , free, styla championship she covered the distance in 2min 52 4-ssec.
The race was won by Miss Frances Bnlt in 2min 42 2-ss'ec. Miss Edna Davev was second, and Miss Bonnie Mealing third, with the title-holder,-Miss Molly Mitchell, fourth.
