PASSENGERS IN CARS
SHARING OF EXPENSES

The Magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., to-day held that the practice of car owners carrying passengers and receiving a share of expenses, however small, is a breach of the Transport Act. The evidence showed that the defendant, Samue! Clothier, a general dealer at Hamilton, advertised seats available in his car from Hamilton to New Plymouth. A traffic inspector instructed a person to book seats, and the car was stopped on the advertised date, and was found to be_carrying passengers.... . The Magistrate imposed a nominal fine pf £1.
