LONDON'S CAPTAIN
John Ockernal, 87, 1927, West street; Oakland, retired ship master and close friend of , the late Captain Kobert Dollar, has died at Highland Hospital m Oakland, after a brief illness. The survivor of two shipwrecks, Captain Ockernal was the master under whom Jack London sailed to get atmosphere for his famous sea stories. For many years Captain Ockernal commanded the Dollar ships, ana "following Ms retirement twenty'years ago, he took charge of the yacht Emerald, belonging to William ;: Letts Oliver, •of :Pieclmont, which he commanded until the time of Jus death.
