Unknown Charity
Parcels and letters poured into the General Post Office, London, before Christmas—letters addressed to Father Christmas from rich and poor children alike (states the "Daily Mail"). Hundreds of these lettors arc posted each year, and each letter is opened by a sorter. Some of theso letters come from children whoso parents are too poor to give them presents. Their pleading notes are not always ignored; sometimes, when a really genuine letter is opened, the sorters collect money between themselves and send the child a present.
