WINNER AT GISBORNE
Conference, who opened his winnin" account m the Maiden Scurry at the Poverty Bay Meeting on Thursday, is a three-year-old chestnut gelding by Autumn (son of Autumnus) from Te Ngira, by Polydamon from Slipstitch, a mare by • ?S» *£ c •F irst im POrted from England in 1916 by Mr. H. D. de Lautour. He is thus a close relative to the defunct Threadneedle, who was by Autumn from fcdipstitch. He was bred and is owned by Mr. D. J. Barry. It would look as if he may turn out a useful hack, for he has started on only three occasions, being third on the first day at Wairoa last week and second on the final day, then winning comfortably on Thursday. Gisborne is a district that has produced several excellent horses in the last couple of years or so/and perhaps Conference will add another to the/number.
