CHAIRMAN'S RESIGNATION
RECOMMENDATIONS IGNORED
Interviewed by a "Post. reporter to-day regarding his resignation of. the chairmanship of the Development of Industries Board, Mr. J. Pearce Luke, president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, said that on receiving the appointment he was given definite instructions that the work of the committee must be strictly confidential to the Government. In effect, the"'committee acted purely in. an advisory capacity. "It is on account of the Government not giving effect to-- any of the recommendations made to it that I felt constrained to sever my eonneetiou with the committee," he said. Mr. Luke.added that he wished to make it quite clear that his resignation neither arose from nor was connected with his attitude upon the exchange issue.
