Sir —Before New Zealand had the misfortune to lose the inestimable services of Mr. Downie Stewart, the- American magazine '"Current History," in its December" number, made this comment -upon New Zealand affairs:—"New Zealand appears to haves-weathered the economic storm,- and by drastic reduction of ex-j penditure-itb. have got. within sight, of a balanced 'Budget next year."
