OLD MAN ROBBED
Frederick John Scriven, who was charged in the Supreme Court yesterday with breaking and entering and theft of £11 2s 6d from an old age pensioner's whare in Masterton in November last was found guilty and was remanded for sentence by his Honour Mr. Justice Blair. In the witness-box Scriven admitted going to the whare with a man named Chapman to see the owner. "While he waß there he was ill, and left Chapman for four or five minutes. He did not know what Chapman did in that time, and denied breaking into the whare. Chapman, earlier in the day, had pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and theft. Mr. C. Evans-Scott appeared for the Crown, and Mr. J. Meltzcr for the accused.
