Bank, 90s; Mount Lyell, 20s 4%d. : "Evening Post," 10th February. The week was an average one on the Stock Exchange, and fair buying strength is indicated. In Government securities there were a. considerable number of sales in 4% per cent. Stock (1938), at £95 10s, and they were quoted yesterday at buyers ■ £95 12a 6d. There were three sales of 4% per cent..Stock (1939) ranging from £95 10s to £95 12s 6d, with buyers at "the latter figure. Both the 193J issues of 5% per cent. Stock were in demand, sales for September ranging from £100 5s to £101 ss, and for February from £100 10s to £101 7s 6d. Yesterday in Wellington September were quoted at buyers £100 15s, sellers £101 ss. Bonds had sales as follows:—s% per cent.,; 1937, two-sales, £101 ss, £101 7s 6d; -4%' per- cent., 1938, two sales, both at £95 1Q5;.4% per cent;, 1939, two sales, £95 20a,and1 £95 15s, with buyers at £95 10s.. South-British led the business in the insurance division,' and up to Thursday had eleven sales'from £2 18s 3d to £2 18s 9d, in all the centres'save Dunedin. New Zealand sold from £2 3s 9d to £2 5s 3d, and yesterday in Wellington were wanted at £2 3s 6d ex dividend, sellers £2- 6s. National had sales at 14s 3d, 14s 4d, and 14s 4%d. Queensland, £2 11s. In meat, Gear had three sales at £1 8s 6d, two in Wellington and one in Auckland. New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid) sold at 3s 8d in Christchurch. Yesterday in Wellington Gear were quoted at buyers £1; 7p.9d, sellers £1 9s; New Zealand Refrigerating Company (10s paid) at 3s 7d and 4s. - In the miscellaneous division, Wilson's Cement, had most sales; starting in 'Auckland last week at £1 8s and selling in Auckland on.Wednesday at £1 9s. Electrolytic Zinc (ordinary) sold in Christchurch at 16s 9d and 16s lOd, and preference shares sold in the same city , three times at £1 7s and ' once at £1 7s 9d. Colonial Sugar were bought in Auckland and Christchurclv from £51 10s to £52 12s 6d, and sold in Auckland yesterday at £53. . British Tobacco sold three times in Christchurch, £1 12s sd, £1 12s 6d, £1 12s 9d, and had another sale in ChristchurcWesterday at £1 13s 4d. In Auckland there were sales of Farmers' Trading, the ordinary at 2s Id and the preference at 5s 3d.- Other sajes .were Henry Jones Co-op., £1 15s 7d' (Auckland). New Zealand Drug, £2 16s 6d, £2 16s 6d, and £2 16s, all- in Auckland. New Zealand Paper Mills, two sales at £1 2s, one in Dunedin and one in Auckland. Woolworth preference, £1 fls, Wellington.
