AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
The first Dewar Shield meeting oE the season will be held at Petone to-morrow. Excellent entries have been received, and competition should be keen. The shield events are all from, the scratch, mark. C. Jenkins stands out on his own in the 100 yards, as does W. Ogg in the 440 yards event. T. J. Crowe, national champion high jumper, will be competing, along with the ex-champion, F. Bradcy. The cycling banked trade championships are also to be held, and the best of the local riders, R. tHrner, T. Roe, and L. Roberts, -will fight for honours against T. McCord 'and Q-. Tinkler, of Masterton. The meeting commences at 2.15 p.m. A special bus service has been arranged.
