THE SOUTHERN CROSS
REPAIRS PROCEEDING
Bepairs are proceeding to the monoplane Southern Cross, which was damaged when she was landed at Palmerston North last Saturday at the conclusion of a flight from Hamilton. The wing lias been stripped, and the repairs to it are progressing satisfactorily. The three engines are being overhauled, and this will minimise the delay, as Sir Charles Kingsford Smith would have taken a week off in Christchurch to attend to the engines.
Dr. E. Kidson, Director of Meteorological Services, has written a report on the weather usually experienced at the end of March and early in April, and it is being sent to Sir Charles by to-day's Australian mail. Sir Charles will leave Sydney by the Monowai next Friday for Auckland, and will fly from Auckland to Palmerston North. The opinion is held that Sir Charles will probably fly the Southern Cross back to Australia.
