THEFTS BY CHINAMAN
Arthur Wong, a Chinese fruiterer, aged 23, described by Sub-Inspector Ward as a mal? "pried by his countrymen as an undesirable, pleaded guilty before Mr. E. JPage, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court today to five charges of stealing bicycles. The sub-inspector said that the accused had stolen four bicycles in Wellington and one^in Palmerston North. AH had been-sold, ; but had since been recovered On occasions he had worked with his countrymen in their gardens,- but lately he had not been doing any work. The accused, who had been convicted previously on a number of charges of false pretences, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on one of the charges. On each of the others he was convicted and ordered. to come' up for sentence within two years if called upon. •. ,
