R.A.F. CRASH IN MIST

(Beceived 9th February, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Bth February. Four members of the Eoyal Air Force were killed in ah aeroplane, which, while exercising over Salisbury Plain, met a heavy ground mist and struck a tree, smashing the petrol tank, which took fire before the occupants could escape. Aircraftsman Hipwell, who was thrown clear from the rear of the bomber, _ emerged i_ the mist half-1 dazed, his face blackened and eyebrows ' singed, and the upper half of his uni-1 form burnt. He broke the news to two farmers that his four companions were burning to death. The farmers rushed to the scene and found that'the roaring flames precluded the removal of the bodies until only the framework of the machine remained. The victims were: Flying-Officer Pil- { cher, Sergeant Allen, Corporal Smith, and Aircraftsman Shpll. _ The Air Force casualties total seven since Ist January.
