It was ascertained to-day that Mr. J. Pearc. Luke, president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, has handed, in his resignation as chairman of the Development of Industries Board, recently set up by the Minister of' Industries and, Commerce (the Hon. _. Masters).--It is understood that Mr. Luke, who .has taken a leading part in the agitation against.. the inflation of the exchange, tendered his resignation the day following the announcement of the'.Governmerit's decision;to raise the exchange New Zealand on London.' An early announcement is expected of the appointment of Mr. "S. Takle, president of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, to fill the vacancy created by* Mr. Luke's. resignation.
