Nicholetle,'. which left Cranwell, Lincolnshire, at 7.12 a.m. pn Monday, passed over Zesfonteiri in South-West Africa, about noori to-day. > Zesfontein is approximately 50_ miles from Cranwell, and this distance was covered in about 51' hours. Hitherto the long-distance flight record was held by the Ameri* can airmen Boardman and Polando, with a distance of 4984 miles. v Having broken this record th* Royal Air Force pilots decided to' abandon their intention of flying on to Cape Town and landed at 4.40*j p.m. at Walvis Bay, nearly 800 miles! from Cape Town.
