MONOWAI'S EXCURSION
Wireless messages from the Monowai to/the Union Company's office in Wellington, state that the excursion trip to West Coast Sounds is proving a great success. The weather was calm and fine for the trip down the West Coast yesterday. There was a blue sky, and clear-views were obtained of the mountains.. At 4.30 p.m. the Monowai passed Greymouth, coming to within half a mile of the shore, and the event caused considerable excitement in the town. The Monowai entered Milford Sound at daybreak today- Conditions in the sound were most favourable. The visibility in Milford Sound is often poor, but the passengers were exceptionally favoured. The Monowai left Milford Sound at 10.30 a.m. for Bligh and George Sounds, and intended to return to Milford this afternoon before leaving for Wellington. The ship is due back at-Wel-lington on "Friday morning, and will sail on "Friday afternoon for Sydney.
