The • following information has been > cabled to the London office of the Waihi •Gold : Mining Company, Ltd.: For the period, -ended 21st'' January, comprising 14% crushing days, 11,780 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 3502. fine ounces of gold and 21,013 fine ounces of silver. This includes'l44l tons'mined from "the Grand Junction 'area,'which yielded 587 ounces of" gold and"4o4l qunces of silver. •■ No. 3 level^North. branch Martha lode—Driving west the next 15 feet assays 73s 9d.a ton; width- of the lode varied from two to four feet.' Driving east the nest 23 feet assays 19s 3d'a ton..' The width of the lode is about .4% feet. No, 11 level: Edward lode—At 70 feet up Berryinan rise' we ha.ye driven.north 113 feet and the assayvalue ns__3Bs 3d a\ ton. ' The lode varies from two.to five feet wide. ■ ■Golden Dawn Goldmines, Limited (Owharqa, Ohinemuri district), reports that for the 12 working days ending 28th Januarys a total of 384 tons of ore ■ was treated/for a return of £704, gold valued at: £4' an ounce On this "basjs the yield represents 176 ounces. • • : The. clean-up, at Alexander Mines (Reefton) for-January was as follows, with the figures for December (for three weeks) in parentheses:—Ore crushed, 421 tons .-(411: tons); melted gold, 2430z 12dwt (2980z 13dwt); cyanide treatment, 272 (278) tons of s,and; bullion, 960z 6dwt (970z : -14dwt); - estimated value of gold won, £-1277 (£1500); exclusive of premium on sale-o£ gold abroad and premium on exchange: The Alexander Mines Company has declared-its seventh dividend (£l)i.iits first dividend for 1933. It paid sixHsimilar dividends in 1932. ,
AUSTRALIAN REDUCTION
SYDNEY, 7th February. ' ■ The Commonwealth Bank and also the trading banks announce a reduction of % per cent, in the rates for fixed deposits. The rates now are: Three months, 2 per cent.; six months, 2% per cent.; 12 months, 2% per cent.; twenty-four months, 3 per cent.
