A meeting of the Otago Provincial Council of the New Zealand Farmers' Union expressed appreciation of the stand taken by the Government in raising the rate of exchange to 25 per cent., and passed a , resolution congratulating the Hon. W. Downie Stewart on vacating a position which he found to be untenable. DUNEDIN, This Day. A motion was also carried advocating a reduction of 25 per cent, in the Customs tariff, and following ' that that the spirit of the Ottawa Agreement be carried out to the letter.
