INTERPROVINCIAL CONTEST}
"With prospects of a fast track and fine weather, the in terprovincial' amateur athletic meeting at the Basin ba Saturday ■ between Wellington .and. Canterbury promises to: provide,an excellent afternoon's sport. Several of New" Zealand's most notable athletes, •wto.are expected to be at the top of their form, will be competing, and interest will be quickened by-the rivalry--ietween--the two provinces. T. G. Broadway, holder .of the national title for the half-mile,.is reported to be running exceptionally....Well, and there is a distinct possibility "that ha will break the New Zealand record fop the distance. Broadway,- however, will not find it easy to reach the tape first, 'as he will be opposed to W. Ogg, the" Olympic Club's champion half-toiler,' who finished second to Broadways at.the New Zealand "championship" meeting at Auck-land-last year. Ogg ran a.particularly fine race on Monday evening, winning the half-mile, event from: scratch in 2min. dead: • Several other items j on/the programme are" expected to'present-^ strong appeal, including the races between the leading sprinters o£ the two provinces— who will also meet in a 440.yards relay race—field events, hurdles, and-, handicap events.
