TRESPASS CASE
HOUSE AT EASTBOURNE
Robert Lucas, of Eastbourne, Ttid took possession of a house in Marine parade, - Eastbourne, without the consent of the owner, was convicted of trespass in the Lower Hntt .Magistrate's Court this morning, and ordered to come up for sentence next Wednesday at Petone.
Outlining the case for the prosecution, Senior-Sergeant H. H. Butler said that the house was owned by Mr. f'oglia,' whose agent was Mr. J. A. Scott, solicitor. Last Thursday Lucas inquired from Scott whether he could, . occupy the house, and Scott replied th» agent at Eastbourne must first be consulted. On Saturday Lucas saw the agent, -and told him that Scott said ha conld go into the house. He thereupon installed himself in the house with a woman whom the Senior-Sergeant understood was not his wife, and one or two children. He had entered by » forcing open a wired-up door. Mr. Scott had ordered him out, but h© was still there.
Evidence was given by J. A. Scott, solicitor, and A. Birkett, land agent. Constable McManus said in evidence
that Lucas was taken .home ill yesterday from a Telief works job, but that he was all right last night when the summons was served upon him. ' Lucas did not appear, and he was convicted by Mr.; W. Hv Woodward, S.M., and ordered to come up for sentence in a week. .
