Mr. Harry Barnes, ' husband of Miss May Cobb, cabled the "Daily Express" that the Taronga took fire at 7.30 on Saturday evening and turned back, to Perim when four hours away. Slightly, burned, they continued fighting the fire." The crew struggled all night long amid suffocating smoke. The fire spread to the other holds, including casks of tallow. We managed to make harbour with a list of 30 degrees." The cargo included 15,000 bales ot wool, 1900 tons of-flour, 3600 tons ot wheat, and 1500 tons of copra.
