WEATHER CHANGING

END OF HOT SPELL

The recent spell o^f exceptionally fine and hot weather is coming to an end according to the weather forecast issued at noon to-day. Moderate to strong northerly -winds are likely to back to the south during the ensuing twenty' four hours. Cloudy to overcast weather with fairly general rain, is predicted, arid temperatures will be cooler to-morrow when the effect of the southerly change is felt. ' ;, :■

Over the greater part. of the Dominion the weather yesterday was fine and hot, Dut scattered rain fell in places in the northern and eastern, districts of the North Island. TTiis rain was associated with the cyclone to:tha north-east of the Auckland ■ peninsula. This disturbance has persisted for a week or so, but now appears-to have practically filled up. Since last night there has been a general change to the westerly type of weather. Barometers have fallen 4 considerably in southern districts, winds have freshened from the north, and rain has fallen..-since last night in many places in districts with a westerly aspect. . Auckland had fair and not weatheri yesterday, with a light northerly wind.'; Light showers fell there last night and! again this'morning. ' The weather in Wellington yesterday?was exceptionally hot. A clear summer's day produced a maximum "temperature of 82 degrees in the shade and 13.6 hours of bright sunshine. fl?he wind was a light northerly. The sky clouded over, however,-.late in the evening, a»d during the night and'early this moaning rain amounting to nine points fell at Kelburn, Lower Hutt having a beneficial fall of Bl points.
