AIR MAIL DELAY.
(To the Editor.) Si r'7"-f ve^ im P°rtant private letter was posted for dispatch to my wife from her home in Cheshire, England, on 30th November, 1032. This letter contained urgent news of the death of one of her relations, and in consequence it was sent by air ?J?S!J , F? r **?*' stamPs to the value of IBid had to be affixed. Despite this big charge—and it was only ;in ordinal-..,;-, envelope—the letter was delivered to us oa 11th January, 1933. So lor the bus !».•.■ of ll&d, which the senders willingly paid to assure early delivery, it has taken about 41 days! \Vhen one remembers that an ordinary English mail averages only 38 | days» it is not very encouraging to patron-
ise the air mail. Where the delay occurred I know not. Possibly some plausible excuse will be made, but no excuse or .explanation can dispute the truth, that, from the day the letter was stamped at the G.P.O. in Altrincham, Cheshire, on 30th November, to the actual delivery to my wife at Ngaio;was 41 Says! It was money thrown away in my estimation.—l am, etc., !■ FED UP.
