CRASH, ON SPEEDWAY
TWO RIDERS JNJURED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 15th January. A collision between two cinder-track machines resulted m both riders being thrown heavily and rendered unconscious at the Western Springs Speedway last evening. One of the riders, R. Cairn 3, aged 34, married, was later admitted to the Auckland Hospital suffering from slight concussion and a fracture of the nollarbone, while the other, X Day, escaped more lightly and.competed later m the evening. The accident occurred at the conclusion of the fourth heat of the January Handicap. The winner, D. Mattson, and the second man, T. Stevenson, had already passed the post whan Cairns and Day were coming out of the last corner. Just before crossing the line, Cairns, who was running last, accidentally touched the rear wheel of Day's machine with his own mount, and in an instant both machines turned over. The two riders fell heavily They were attended by members of the St. John Ambulance.
