BETTING CONTINUES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, This Day. In the Magistrate's Court, Alfred Henry Chumm and Daniel McCarthy were charged with using premises as a common gaming house. They pleaded guilty, and were fined £50 each. ' The Magistrate (Mr. W. Meldrum) said that betting was carried on throughout New Zealand in spite of the law and heavy penalties. It would probably continue to be carried on.
