"The Daily Herald" couples this news with the' Australian proposals to develop the Northern territory as a source o£ supplies. Sir Edmund Vestey, in an interview* said it would take Australia a decade to produce enough cattle to replace South American supplies kept out of! Britain By. the Government's policy. Before the end of the year there would be sharp rises in meat, which thej poorest consumers would feel most.
