A SHARP LOOK-OUT
BROADCAST REQUEST
SEARCH FOR HINKLER
(Received 14th January, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, 13th January. The Air Ministry has broadcast a request to France, Italy, and Switzerland for regular fliers, to keep a sharp look out for Squadron-Leader Hinkler,' and has similarly, telegraphed to Turkey and Bulgaria. Lady Bailey, whoso Puss Moth machine, with extra tanks, is ready to attempt a record flight to Cape Town, says she is willing to search for Hinkler, but, like everyone else, wonders where to start. .... In addition to the Air Ministry's appeal, the British Broadcasting Corporation has appealed direct to thirteen European countries requesting a wireless broadcast urging citizens to aid in tho search for the airman. Captain W. "L. Hope has announced that he is wiling to search the Alps personally and bear half the cost if others will raise the balance. Mr. Arthur Whitelaw and several Australian firms have promised to contribute to tho expenses of a search.
