LEYLAND SUSPICIOUS
USE OF RESIN
IRONMONGER'S HANDKERCHIEF
(Received litii January, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. While teyland was batting in the Test ho asked Ironmonger whether he was using resin, on the ball. Ironmonger denied that he was doing so. Leyland
then demanded to know whether Ironmonger had any on his handkerchief, which he asked to be permitted to inspeet.j Leyland also spoke to the Australian captain, Woodfull, and Ironmonger then produced his handkerchief, which was saturated with eucalyptus to keep the flie3 away. Leyland . immediately apologised. Tho use of resin is barred by the M.C.C., and the ban is endorsed by the Australian Board of Control. _ Sydney papers feature the resin incident and Jardine's note to Woodfull protesting against Richardson moving about between fine and square-leg while Wall was bowling.
