LOXDOISr, 12th November.
"I cannot tell the exact reason for the withdrawal of my book, 'Fore and Aft,' " decalres the authoress, Lady Angela St. Clair Erskine.
The book referred to the alleged indiscreet remarks on politics by Sir Philip Game, while Lady St. *Clair Erskino was a guest at Government House, Sydney.
"It is not a question, of libel," she said. "The book is very frank, and hurts someone's feelings. It will be published when things are smoothed over."
Asked whether more than one persou was concerned, she replied: "It is not altogether a person. I don't see why people should be annoyed by frankness when you say what you think about them."
The publishers state'that "owing to official intervention, publication has been postponed, pending investigation**-' .
