"HERE IS HOLLYWOOD"

HAPPINESS WEEK EFFORT

Hollywood was "brought to Wellington" last night at the Majestic Theatre and cabaret in a most amusing manner. The entertainment was announced as being "all in fun," and was" true to the title, many hundreds of people having an extremely amusing time. .The film folk .of the city had arranged the entertainment for the benefit of Miss Peggy Welch, the "Movie" candidate in the "Queen" contest, and the arrangements were made after Hollywood style. The foyer was a blaze of brightness. The '' movie camera was extremely busy, and the results will be anticipated with much interest. Mr. Bernard, of E.K.O. Films, was at' the "mike," and did some amusing descriptive work. Station 2ZW was broadcasting, and, therefore, outside people were able to join in the fun. Miss Welch, who was charming in white French satin, with a red, white, and blue ribbon (her colours) made a brief speech, and later a news reel and a Wheeler and Wolsey comedy were shown and were greatly appreciated. The cabaret entertainment followed, and a great crowd "chased the hours with flying feet," and generally enjoyed themselves tremendously. Mr. Frank Tozer and his Hula Chorus, Mrs. Lola Maries, Mr. Douglas Stark, Mr. Bay Kemp, Mrs. G. H. Latham, and Mr. A. Simpson, all provided excellent and amusing items, and Mr. Frank Crowther and his orchestra contributed much to the success of the evening. Well-known theatre managers and film exchange authorities caused much mirth by appearing in much humbler guise as general assistants. These included Messrs. G. H. Latham, G. Jar[dine, W. Eyre, L. Williams, L. Quinn,

S. Craig, E. Stewart, I. E. Donald, A. McGowan, J. Tyack, T. Craigie, V. Vinsen, and E. Sheppard. A flashlight picture was taken when' the fun was at its height, and should prove an interesting memento of a happy eveuing.
