Give the'plants a sunny spot, and they, will flower'till further orders, either massed in :a lied, iii groups, for edging, or., in pots in the. cool greenhouses. Seedlings may be secured from tho, seedsmen, but;if:pre-ferred-the seeds may be ■ sown now. The ordinary kinds germinate readily, but the frilled and double 'ones should be'sown'in. boxes or'pans, either in a. frame or greenhouse. The seed's are very minute ami require hardly any covering; in fact, if sown on top- of the compost and covered with a piece
of glass and brown-paper to keep them dark' they will- germinate and establish themselves quite readily. Don't,tiry -to' force the young plants with manure;* they appreciate manurial soil all right,' but an' excess of manure has a; tendency to t produce foliage at the "expense of flowers. For" petunias ;a mixture of loam,'leaf-mould, and- sand' will be found suitable, whethpr they are; grown:in/pots or in the'open, so that a heavy soil should be lightened'witha good admixture' of sand .'ami 'leaf-: mould or virgin loam, to make it^mdre friable, and'easily.':worked.!,'; ;.' !'''..■[■] :
