EX-SOLDIERS' FUNDS
HELP FOR IMPERIAL MEN
A request that the'question of assistance given to. ex-Imperial men from New. Zealand soldiers' funds be "one into by the War Funds Council -was made by Mr. S. J. Harrison at a meeting of the Wellington War Relief Association to-day. The acting-chairman, Mr. C- M .Luke, said that at the present time the inroads on the funds as far as ex-Imperial men wero concerned were very great. While they wanted to do all they could, to help those men, they did not want to do an iniustice to their own men. The War Funds Council would have to look into the matter in an endeavour to meet the situation. • ■
Colonel G. Mitchell said that they were being more generous than any other soeietv.
In addition to assisting men in New Zealand, an effort had been made to help New Zealanders in other countries, said Mr. Harrison, and it was doubtful whether any other country had done so much in this direction Replying to Colonel Mitchell, the secretary (Mr. A. O. Leach) said that the percentage of claims by ex-Imperial men was nearly 20 per cent, of the total claims.
After' further discussion the chairman said that the matter would receive the attention of the War Funds Council.
