' "We should express to Mr. Nash our thanks for liis good ivork in securing an amendment to the Wellington City Empowering Amendment Bill, which safeguarded the artesian water supplies of the Hutt Valley local bodies," said Mr. C. Gostelow at a meeting of the Butt Bivcr Board last evening.

The chairman of the board, Mr. F. S. Hewer, and Messrs. G. A. Chapman and H. E. Leighton, strongly endorsed Mr. Gostelow's remarks,1 and a motion eordiallv thanking Mr. Nash, and also the Hon. X D. McLeod,' M.P., for his support, was passed.

The action of the chairman in attending a conference of local bodies and agreeing to combined action to secure legislation, to prevent the City Council endangering the artesian supply of any local body in the Hutt Valley, was approved. ' . .
