SOLDIER'S PACK
CHANGE IN BRITAIN
LOWER HALF DETACHABLE
(Eeceived 23rd November, 1 p.m.) LONDON, 22nd November. Following the action taken in regard to uniforms, the Army authorities have decided to replace the old valise with a pack, of which the lower half is detachable and can. be left behind when going into battle. The idea is that the new infantryman must run like an athlete ■across bullet-swept zones from cover to cover. .-.,.- The upper half of the new haversack will include minimum, necessities, such as mess tin, iron, ration, and cardigan.
