MANY PROBLEMS

AT HOME AND ABROAD

POINTS IN KING'S SPEECH

EFFORTS AT SOLUTION

United Press Association—By Electric Tdt« erapb—Copyright (Received 23rd November, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 22nd November. His Majesty's views on world-wide problems, the national finances, and economic conditions were embodied in. his speech at the opening ef Parliament. Earnest hopes were expressed for the success of the World- Economic Conference which is being held in London as soon as possible in 1933 and also the Disarmament Conference.

The Government would 'submit proposals for further constitutional de« velopment in India at the conclusion of the present Bound Table Conference. "The decisions to be taken will be of great moment to the whole of my Empire." . '

The measures taken to assist British; -industry in the " -no and overseas markets had <• da feeling of greater confidence. Further plans to enable agriculture to take its proper national place were foreshadowed. "Though the recent measures in regard to meat and other products have been of real assistance to the producers," it is pointed out that the; restoration of prosperity in agriculture cannot be expected until -wholesale prices have risen to a more normal level. A long" reference is made to unemployment, and particular distress is expressed at the fact that many young men and women have never in their lives had the opportunity of regular employment. Forthcoming measures would deal with unemployment insurance and other unemployed problems and rent restriction.
