SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. Since last evening the anticyclone has been moving oft Xew Zealand, and the front of an intense westerly depression has advanced on- to the South Island. Xortherly winds have, consequently, increased in force, especially in and south of Cook Strait, and the weather, which yesterday was fine generally, has become cloudy and unsettled in the western districts from Taranaki southwards, where rain has fallen in places. Temperatures have been warm everywhere.
