Sydney"-to Auckland, and on the liner's arrival it was announced that Miss Mary: Lchnie, of Island Bay, "Wellington, had become engaged to Mr. E. T. Richards, the young Englishman who flchv f vom.England to Australia last March. .The young couple were travelling- together on the steamer, Miss Lennie returning to New Zealand from a visit-tb' Australia, and Mr. Eichards travelling.-to Los Angeles en routo to England. Sintfe his long flight from England. Mr., Eichards has been doing a. great deal of flying in. Australia. He met' Miss Lennie in Melbourne, where ■he.learned that; he would be a fellpwpassenger with her on the Mariposa to Auckland. As a result of his flying experience ;i in Australia Mr. Eichards has become : greatly impressed with the farming • potentialities of the Northern Terrii tory, and .he has' recently purchased : Melville Island, with an! area of 2000 ■ square miles, which lies! to the north. ;. of Darwin.. ...
