TENNIS MATCHES
NEW RANKING SCHEME
Last night the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association decided to place in operation its new_scheme of ranking matches. The first six men and first six women players were chosen, and the announcement was made that matches would begin oh 4th Pecember. The chosen men players are: —R. McL. Ferkins, D. G. France, A. L. France, E. A. Rousell, A. E. Sandral, and N. R. C. Wilson. Women:—Mrs. AY. J. Melody, Mrs. H. M," Dykes, Mrs. D. G. France, Miss D. Howe, Miss F. North, ■and Miss M.' Whyte.. . . ,' Applications are .now invited to fill the remaining eight places in the second series of matches. ■ These applications must be in by the week-end. Players must be willing to play on alternate Sundays. The draw and dates will be published." Young players will not be included in the second group, but will be matched against leading _ players for experience. Associate members will not be charged ground fees. Others will be charged 2s per day. Full particulars may be obtained on application to the honorary secretary.
