LATE SPORTING
ON TRENTHAM TRACKS
LITTLE FAST GALLOPING
RIDERS FOR SATURDAY
(Ey "Rangatira.") With nearly thirty horses trained at Trentham having raced at Carterton on Saturday, there was little need for galloping trials this morning, and almost all the horses to race at Levin.this week-end were restricted to . strong pacing work. The weather was fine and the plough was in excellent order. Eed Sun and Normandy are being worked eaijy the reverse way round iv preparation for their trip to Auckland at Christmas. They , separately did rounds of half-pace work. Taura Lad (S. Wilson), picked up by. Maypay (J. K. Robertson) at the sis furlongs, ran a mile easily in lmin oOsec. Traymela (A. Leach) went half a mile iv 52 3-ssee, and Money Mint (Wilson) followed with a similar task in 52 4-osec. ' Araios (A. Jenkins) did a round of wa.rming-up work, then jumped the pony hurdle and the flight of three schooling hurdles. His display of fencing,-was faultless, but he proved rather difficult to control. He is to make his debut as a hurdler at Levin, but no rider has yet been engaged for him. Taura Lad and Bright Song,JTrentham's other two hurdling candidates for Levin, were sent i over the three fences yesterday, and they will 'be jumped in company to-morrow. Taura' Lad will be riddc« by A. Jenkins and Bright Song by I. Pioiiloff on Saturday. Although Posy's name did not appear among the nominations, handicaps, "or acceptances for Levin, her trainer (W. McConkey) states that, she .was iflitered for the Mako Mako. Hack Handicap, and has been accepted, ■ ■ Historic is at present enjoying a respite, but he will be brought into work again shortly.
