GAOL SUPERINTENDENT
SHOT AT AND WOUNDED
OUTRAGE IN CALCUTTA
CALCUTTA, 19th November.
Mr. Charles Luke, superintendent of the Bajshahi Gaol, Calcutta, was shot near the gaol compound while driving with his wife and daughter. Three bullets struck Mr. Luke,,who was sent to hospital. The assailant escaped, but several houses were searched and Wo arrests were made. ''•_■■ One.-of the assailants threw a cycle in front of Miv Luke's car, causing him to stop. The others fired three shots, one of which fractured Mr. Luke's jaw, but he pluckily drove the car home' where he collapsed. He is now progressing in hospital. ,
