FALL DOWN BANK
INTO POOL OF WATER
WOMAN INJURED
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, 20th November.
A woman who fell while climbing dowa a cliS at "Waiheke Island had a fortunate escape from serious injury this morning. She received scalp wounds, a deep cut over one eye, extensive bruises, and shock, 'and was admitted to hospital. The injured woman, Mrs.- Julia Mundy, aged 42, of Ponsonby, was one of a party who visited Mataitai, "Waiheke Island. The party walked around the cliffs above the bay, and then commenced to climb down a precipitous bank to a pool ' between some rocks. There was no track, and Mr. Mundy descended first, his wife following. After a short distance Mrs. Mundy missed her footing in the dry grass and commenced to slide down the bank. Before any of the others could grasp her she slid down the steop slope, about 50ft in length, and, reaching the edge, fell into the pool, which was about 15ft deep. Had the tide- not been full she must have been severely injured, as the pool is almost dry at low water.
Mrs. Mundy remained conscious throughout, and, although dazed, was able to cling to the rock after she had fallen in the pool. She was then brought to safety by her husband.
