BAND CONTEST
AWARDS AT MASTERTON
, (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post") MASTERTON, This Day. Bands from many parts'of the Wellington district assembled in Masterton on Saturday on the occasion of the first contest promoted by the Wairarapa Brass Bands Association. The contest, which was quite a successful one, was for B and C grade bands. The musical judge was Mr. R. J. Estall, of Christchunch. Details of the awards are:— QUICKSTEP. *■■■.. B Grade—£s and shield valued at £3: Carterton Municipal, 251 points, 1; £2 10s, Masterton Municipal, 237% points, 2, Wellington Artillery, 235 points 3. Also competed: Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, 230%; Wellington Boys' Institute Military, 229; Feilding Municipal, 218; Upper Hutt Municipal, 208; Miramar Silver, 204. C Grade—£s and shield valued at £5: Levin Municipal, 204% points, 1. Also competed: Woodville Municipal, 199% points. ' TEST SELECTION. B Grade—£s and C. and T. Shield: Wellington Artillery ("Halevy"), 74 points, 1; £2 10s, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve ("Undine"), 72 points, 2. Masterton Municipal ("II Bravo"), 69 points, and Carterton Municipal ("Hamlet"),' 69 points, equal 3. Also competed: Miramar Silver ("Fra Diavolo"), G6 points; Wellington Boys' Institute Military ("Recollections of Verdi"), Co points; Upper Hutt Municipal ("II Trovatore"), CO points; Feilding Municipal Band (selection from Verdi), GO points. C Grade.—£s and Shield valued at £5: Levin Municipal ("Knight Errant"), 73 points, 1. Also competed: Woodville Municipal ("Classic Gems")/60 points.
