AIR FORCES COMPARED

(British Official Wireless.)

(Received 21st' November, 1.p.m.)

BUG-BY, 19th November. . In view of the British proposal that the air forces of the leading Powers should be reduced to a level of those of the United Kingdom and that following this there should be. a further cut of one-third' in all air force strengths, Britain's included, it is of interest to quote the "air strengths of Britain, France, Italy, United States, and Japan as given in current League of Nations Armaments' Year Book. The figures are for last year, and refer to aeroplanes and seaplanes:—

France; 2375, not including 605 spare machines. United States. 1752. Japan 1639. Italy, 1507. Britain, 1434.

At the end of the war Britain had the world's largest air force, but has since reduced it independently.
