NUMEROUS SURRENDERS

CANBEBBA, 18th November.
Since the operation of the Financial Emergency Act of Ist September whereby relatives, where*possible, are,bound to contribute toward the pensions of those receiving them, two thonsand invalid and old age pensions have already been surrendered in all States.
Another clause of the Act provides that any pension money paid after 12th October will become a charge on the property of the pensioner afterV his death.

SYDNEY, This Day. The State Government has "decided to drop the Destitute. Persons Maintenance Bill which was introduced recently iy the Minister of Education, Mr. Drummond. The object of the measure was to compel near relatives of destitute persons to provide for their support.
