-BOBBY -CALF'INDUSTRY At the last" meeting 'o£ the committee o£, the Wellington^ Society for the Pre-' vention of Cruelty .to Animals, a reply was received from the .'Minister of'; Internal Affairs with, reference to a recent deputation which waited upon him incouiiection with the bobby; calf industry. He indicated-that various matters raised, by the. society, were receiving attention. It was considered by ' the committee that great assistance could be rendered to the society's inspectors and also the. freezing works and others concerned in .'the bobbycalf industry., if .a ■system of ..tagging1 calves sent for. slaughter could be introduced, and a sub-committee of the society was'set'up to consider the-matter- fully and* to cooperate with the freezing works and Department of Agriculture. The committee placed on record its appreciation of the valued services rendered to the society by-Mrs. C. Christie, Mrs. J. - 8.. Kenny,. Mrs. A. E. Hunt, and Mr. J._ K. Salti' members of the previous committee. As a mark of appreciation of valuable services . rendered over , a period of twenty-five years, Mrs.' C.l Christie was elected an honorary member of the society. ....
