BRITAIN'S STRONG POSITION

Sir John Simon recently conversed with the Soviet Ambassador regarding a new Anglo-Soviet trade agreement to replace the agreement which was denounced last month. It is understood that Britain seeks reciprocity approaching equality,, emphasising that purchases should constitute one-third of the Soviet's exports. Britain has formidable bargaining power because.'a continuance of Soviet exports is essential to provide credits for the second five-year plan. The Ambassador is conferring with Moscow.
